MFPA History
The MFPA was formed in August of
1993, initially to support the Multifunction Peripheral
Interface (MFPI) standard. This standard is was drafted
by the Telecommunications Industries Association (TIA)
committee TR29.2, Facsimile Digital Interfaces as
PN-1906 MFPI. This standard was completed to the level
of "Interim Standard" in early 1995. An
overview of the MFPI and its wide-ranging impact on the
peripheral industry is available.
More
recently, the MFPA has also been working
on numerous other projects which have more
impact on the mid- and high-end MFPs. Topics
such as
BrowseFax Initiative
Color Management, color fax, extended fax
Workflow Integration
Capabilities and Configuration
databases (Management Information Bases -- "MIB"s)
Internet fax and internet
interoperability
MFPA is well known for
its annual "Integrated Office Conference" covering both
technical and marketing aspects of the
industry annually since 1995.
Rockwell International, STF
Technologies, Cognisys, Inc. and Xerox Corporation
contributed to the early work on the MFPI standard. Our
current membership is a "who's who" of the
peripheral industry, representing all facets of the
peripheral business, from embedded technology providers
to application software developers.
