Multifunction Products Association - Meeting Notice - April 6, 2003, New York, NY
  • Date: April 6, 2003 (Sunday), 9am to 5:00pm
  • Site: Conference Room # 2D08 Jacob Javits Center, New York
  • RSVP: Please RSVP to Raymond Lutz (raylutz@mfpa.org) at least 5 business days in advance.

This document was updated 2/21/03.

This meeting notice will be followed by a meeting agenda with more detail and late-breaking agenda items. This event is held in the Jacob Javits Center just before the start of the AIIM trade show. We are appreciative of AIIM for providing our meeting space for this meeting. Please RSVP as soon as you can so I can inform AIIM so that we will have enough refreshments available.

AGENDA

  • Each day starts with snacks, Welcome and Introductions, Sign-in

  • Review July 23-24, 2002 Meeting Report and approve.

  • MIB Projects

    • SNMP-MIBs:
I would like to review the state of all these documents and decide how we can further distribute the result, or make any final corrections. It is our intention to consider how AIIM can help us to further disseminate the scanner MIB and related MIBs.
      • MFP-MIB: Stable.
      • Scanner MIB: Stable.
      • Fax MIB Draft: Still needs some futher review.

  • BrowseFax Initiative
Background information is available at BrowseFax.com and at the MFPA BrowseFax projects page.

More progress has been made on the initial draft submitted for review at the last meeting. At the May meeting, Dave Crocker prepared a nice set of summary slides that are useful for discussion, and do not necessarily represent the consensus of the group. You can find them here: http://www.brandenburg.com/presentations/browsefax-integration.ppt

I have continued some investigation into the Resource Description Framework and CC/PP (Composite Capability/Preference Profiles) to create a User Agent Profile that would be usable for determining the capabilities of the embedded browser as well as possibly for use for content negotiation and perhaps configuration management. Although I have some reservations, I really like the solid theoretical basis for the RDF work and would recommend that we proceed in this direction.

I have prepared a skeleton document which is only a stab in this direction to size up the issues involved before we make a further commitment. I would appreciate it if you would take a look at this document, here:

  • IOC 2003 Discussion
I have tentatively reserved space at San Diego Doubletree, Mission Valley, for our annual conference, in October, 2003. This venue will support either a slightly scaled-back version of our usual conference, or a larger conference if things go well. Please check these dates!

  • Finalize schedule for 2002/2003
